Székely land – symphonic poem (op. 34)

The

Székely land

symphonic poem is a fantasy for orchestra based on the székely (szekler) anthem and on themes from my other pieces. Originally the sketch was called Orchestral tryout, and it didn’t contain any foreign motives. While composing, I have included the scales known from the Elegy for viola and piano, the theme of Agnus Dei from Missa Brevis and the székely anthem as well. There can be found also hungarian motifs in the piece.

The orchestra is the following:
piccolo
2 flutes
2 oboi
cor anglais
2 Bb clarinet
Bb bass clarinet
bassoon
contrabassoon
4 F corn
3 Bb trumpet
2 tenor trombone
1 bass trombone
Tuba
Timpani
Bass drum
Cymbals
Tam-tam
Violin I-II
Viola
Cello
Double bass
